I'm both a technologist (work at Google in Boulder) and avid bike rider/racer. Additionally last year I published my Masters thesis comparing Stages power meter (the reference power meter in my testing) to both opposing force (PowerPod) and smart phone (sensor-based) apps for power. Great opportunity to get into great detail around how power meters perform in all conditions.

My wife also owns a sports bra company with integrated heart rate monitoring (ANT+/BLE/5.3 KHz tri-mode) targeted at cycling and any sport that requires accurate heart rate monitoring. I helped invent the technology and have several patents around the unique multi-mode capability. In general, I like anything with a sensor that can measure inputs from any source.
