I started cycling over 35 years ago, and have gone through several forays into triathlon (competed in the first-ever collegiate nationals triathlon) as well as other non-wheeled sports during times of overwork or injury. Most recently, I have been working as a race official for USA Cycling, averaging 30 race days each of the last 2-3 years. This year I worked UCI mountain bike and cyclocross races, as well as local races and omniums in road and cyclocross. I also have started working as a Certified Race Official with USA Triathlon and was lucky to be assigned to several national championship races this year, as well as the PTO US Open. I am a member of a local racing team, though my personal racing efforts have been limited in the past few years due to injury and officiating. I ride as much as I can squeeze in, trying to hang with the fast group on the team rides. As I just moved into a new age group this year, I am looking forward to getting in more races for cycling (crits, gravel, TT) and triathlon (spring to half distance). Married to my high school sweetheart, have three kids and have a variety of projects and jobs to stay busy professionally. Hoping a new promotion within my organization will leave me with more time to train and compete this year along with officiating more local and national level cycling or triathlon events in 2023.
