I was a multi-sport athlete in high school. Went on to college where I played baseball. After college, I struggled to find something to take the place of baseball. I eventually found combative jujitsu where I was a two stripe blue belt. After competing in several tournaments/events, the gym I attended closed. I then began focusing on all around fitness. I joined a gym that had group fitness (cardio and weights), yoga and cycling. It was here I was introduced to my tri coach. After a few months of training there, my now coach asked if I would be interested in competing in a triathlon. I jumped at the chance and in January 2020, I competed in the Liftetime Indoor Triathlon. Despite not knowing how to swim, I placed 8th overall. Unfortunately the pandemic ruined all of the race plans for 2020. 2021 brought additional challenges. On June 4 (two days before my first true tri), I was hit by a car on my last training ride. I ended up fracturing my wrist which required surgery. After months of PT, I was finally able to race. On October 2nd I completed an Olympic distance tri. I placed 3rd in my age group and 28th overall. Hoping for at least one more tri and a few half marathons before the end of the year.
